The briefing paper “Immigration and Work: Challenges and Opportunities for Integration” analyzes, also in light of the conference held at the Irpinia-Sannio Chamber of Commerce (“Cooperation, Development, Training and Job Placement of Immigrant People. Opportunities and Challenges for the Present “) the dynamics related to the inclusion of migrant workers in the labor market, with special attention to the needs of enterprises and opportunities arising from the effective management of the migration phenomenon.
Written by several hands, with a foreword by the President of the National Co.N.A.P.I., the paper is based on an analysis of business needs in recruitment and the need to train staff. In support of this, the trinomial of immigration, companies and labor is presented, along with the elaboration of the questionnaire “Integration and Training of Immigrant Workers,” conducted by the Co.N.A.P.I. National Study and Research Center and still open.
Broken down into six chapters, the briefing paper examines the strategic role of vocational training and collaboration between businesses and Social Partners in fostering immigrants’ professional integration and growth, focusing on both traditional sectors such as agriculture, transportation and catering, and highly specialized fields such as engineering, telemedicine and information technology.
The analysis highlights the main challenges for companies and stresses the importance of a systemic approach involving all social actors in order to foster full employment inclusion. The paper concludes with concrete proposals for improving employment and training integration pathways, contributing to the inclusion of immigrants in Italy’s economic, cultural and social fabric.
